What is Botulinum toxin?

Botulinum toxin is the generic name for Botulinum toxin type. It is a naturally occurring protein of a bacterium. It blocks the transmission of impulses from nerve to muscle, so that it becomes temporarily less powerful. This prevents a wrinkle from becoming deeper.

How fast does Botulinum toxin work?

The first effect of a Botulinum toxin treatment is visible within 2 to 7 days after the treatment and the result is optimal after 2 weeks. We therefore like to make a standard check-up appointment after 2 weeks, in which we together check whether the effect of the treatment is indeed as expected.

Do I get an expressionless face from Botulinum toxin?

This can only be the case when a doctor administers too much Botulinum toxin in the wrong places. However, at DOCTORS at SOAP we always strive for a NO TRACE FACE® with undectable injectables. To achieve this, your doctor at DOCTORS AT SOAP looks at many aspects of your face and posture. For example, how your muscles move, how strong they are, how the relationship is with other muscles. Based on this, your doctor will decide with how many units the Botulinum toxin treatment will be started. The following always applies: it is better to have too little than too much. During the first check, something can always be added in the end. There are no costs associated with this, we would love to see you for an inspection! Every treatment is tailor-made and no treatment is the same, because everyone is different.

Botulinum toxin for migraines and tension headaches

Doctors At Soap offers Botulinum toxin treatment for severe headaches. Migraine is a burdensome chronic condition whose exact cause and effect is not yet fully known. Doctors At Soap can treat you with Botulinum toxin against this severe form of headache. Clients who had Botulinum toxin injected for cosmetic reasons reported less tension headaches during the duration of the migraine treatment.

Fewer migraines with a Botulinum toxin treatment
In some cases, migraines start with muscle tension headaches. Doctors At Soap uses Botulinum toxin for migraines, by means of 'follow the pain' principle: our doctors ask you to indicate where local pain is felt on the head. This is often on the neck or forehead. About 70% of people with migraine and other headache complaints benefit from the use of Botulinum toxin injections for migraine complaints. It can take several weeks for the migraine treatment at Doctors At Soap to give results. Treatment for migraine should be repeated every 3 months.

What are the costs of Botulinum toxin?

Our doctors always look at your individual muscle strength and adjust the maximum amount of Botulinum toxin accordingly. That's why we can't work with zones. A treatment with Botulinum toxin costs at least 75 euros. We charge 12 euros for each unit above that. Usually a LITE treatment is sufficient. DOCTORS AT SOAP works according to the NO TRACE FACE® principle. Botulinum toxin treatments are therefore always tailor-made and all prices are therefore target prices.

Lite/Basic/Intense

After giving many injectable treatments, we can generally classify the amount of units used for Botulinum toxin and milliliters (ml) for the Filler treatments very well according to age. With this layout you never pay too much for a treatment. Of course there are always exceptions. Someone aged 37 can still benefit from a LITE treatment and the number of units and/or ml that go with it. At DOCTORS AT SOAP, each client is advised on the best amount whereby our NO TRACE FACE® the basic principle is maintained.

In general, we can make the following classification so that you can estimate the costs of the treatments you have chosen.
LITE = up to 35 years
BASIC = 35 to 45 years
INTENSE = 45 and older

NB By law, doctors are allowed to treat patients cosmetically from the age of 18. This may soon be changed to older than 25 years. Doctors At Soap is in favor of this.

If your age is now between 18 and 25, the doctor will assess during the (free) consultation whether treatment is necessary or not desired. The doctor always retains the option of choosing not to treat.

Important to know! Do's & Don'ts

DO'S
In case of swelling

• Slight swelling or redness disappears within half an hour. It is possible to camouflage lightly.

With a bruise

• Use Arnica cream if necessary.
• If necessary, camouflage this slightly. Bruises disappear within 3 days.

DON’TS
First 4 hours

• Do not lie down (to prevent the spread of Botulinum toxin).
• Avoid excessive alcohol consumption and makeup (prevention of bruising and infection).

First 48 hours

• Do not rub or massage the treated area. After washing, gently pat the skin dry with a soft towel
• Avoid strenuous activities including sports, sauna and UV light to prevent Botulinum toxin breakdown.

First 2 weeks

• Do not undergo facial treatment.

TIP: Suffering from excessive sweating? Botulinum toxin is a very effective treatment against excessive sweating under your armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis).
